Early Childhood Teacher

Position Summary

St. Martin’s Episcopal School seeks warm, creative, and collaborative Early Childhood Teachers to join our Early Childhood division. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting the developmental, academic, and social-emotional growth of young children. This position is responsible for creating a nurturing and developmentally appropriate classroom environment, designing engaging learning experiences, building strong partnerships with families, and collaborating closely with colleagues and division leadership. The Early Childhood Teacher plays an essential role in cultivating a joyful, inclusive, and supportive learning community for our youngest learners. The Early Childhood Division includes Toddlers, Beginners, and Pre-K classrooms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Create a warm, inclusive, developmentally appropriate classroom environment.

Plan and implement engaging lessons aligned with the School curriculum and Early Childhood best practices.

Support students’ social-emotional development and foster independence, curiosity, and confidence.

Use formal and informal assessments to monitor growth and tailor instruction.

Communicate consistently with families through conferences, updates, and regular contact.

Collaborate with colleagues on planning, instruction, and student support.

Participate in School events such as Open House/Discover Day, Parent Night, Admissions Testing Days, and STEAM Saturday.

Supervise students during carpool, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is required for teachers leading Beginners and Pre-K classes; a Master’s degree and 3 years minimum of classroom experience is preferred.

An associate’s degree is required for teachers leading Toddlers classes; a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years minimum of classroom experience is preferred.

Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

Creativity, flexibility, positivity, and a passion for working with young children.

Experience integrating technology into instruction is a plus.

Work Schedule & Position Status
The role is a 10-month position that follows the school’s academic calendar. The position is paid over a 12-month period and includes typical daily working hours of Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–1:45 p.m. during the academic year. The position joins our faculty as a full-time and benefits-eligible employee. The role is salaried and exempt per FLSA guidelines.

Physical Requirements
Primarily classroom-based with regular campus mobility. Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, and supervise children indoors and outdoors. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs as needed for classroom materials or student support. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
