Position Summary:
The Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), plays a role in The Lovett School community and culture by supporting the Chief of Culture and Community in focusing on ensuring the core value of belonging becomes a consistent lived experience for each member of the Lovett community. The Director of DEIB will work to build relationships while working closely with constituents through all dimensions of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. The primary responsibility of the Director of DEIB is to lead and inspire the team of DEIB Coordinators, Culture and Community Teams, Employee Resource Groups , Student Affinity Groups and the Student Diversity Leadership Council as they assist the Lovett community in integrating DEIB to support, enhance, and extend learning to turn Lovett’s Core value of Belonging into a lived experience. The Director of DEIB guides this team through the annual Professional Growth and Development Plan for institutional, divisional, and individual goals related to the School’s strategic initiatives and creates accountability structures to ensure these goals are met. In partnership with the Chief of Culture and Community, this critical school role supports the development of The Lovett School’s short term and long term DEIB goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implementation: Implement the organization's DEIB priorities and initiatives in alignment with Lovett’s strategic goals and core values. Establish short-term objectives to foster a culture of belonging for employees, students and families.
Collaborative Partnerships: Collaborate with leadership teams, and other departments to integrate DEIB tools and best practices into various aspects of the organization, such as curriculum and instruction, student engagement, enrollment, performance management, and employee engagement.
Leadership and Training: Lead a team of DEIB professionals, providing mentorship, coaching, and support to help them excel in their roles . Implementing research based DEIB focused tools and strategies .
Event & Program Development: Design and implement tools, programs and events that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across all levels of the organization. This could include but is not limited to event planning, recruitment and hiring strategies, training and development programs, mentorship and sponsorship initiatives, and employee resource groups.
Training and Education: Create and manage a professional growth and development plan to deliver training sessions, online resources and workshops for employees and leadership to raise awareness and understanding of DEIB topics.
Data Analysis and Metrics: Collect and analyze data related to diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging efforts to measure the effectiveness of programs and initiatives. Use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions.
Community Engagement/Support: Serve as a resource and advocate for employees, students or parents, providing support and guidance to help resolve issues related to discrimination, harassment, or inequitable treatment.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as monitor and report on progress toward diversity goals in line with legal requirements.
Communication: Develop and implement communication strategies to keep the Lovett community informed about DEIB initiatives, progress, and achievements. Create a culture of transparency and accountability.

Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing DEIB strategies
- A skilled listener who is able to understand multiple perspectives and build bridges across lines of disagreement and difference while fostering respect and understanding among all involved.
- The ability and skills necessary to facilitate challenging, but important conversations within the Lovett community while emphasizing respect and dignity.
- Highly organized with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage complex projects
Preferred Skills:
- Leadership Experience at the Director level or above
- K-12 experience
- DEIB certification
- Working knowledge of DEIB best practices and principles in an educational setting.
- Master’s Degree
