The Lovett School, an independent K-12 day school in Atlanta, GA, seeks a Lower School religion teacher to begin in August 2024. Qualified applicants should be familiar with the developmental progression of lower school children and be able to teach grades K-5.

Reports to: Assistant Head of Lower School

Primary Responsibilities:

Carries out all instructional responsibilities associated with assigned classes to engage, inspire, and challenge students consistent with Lovett’s mission and core values.
Cultivates a classroom culture that facilitates student voice, compassion for others, and a whole-child approach.
Purposefully design curriculum, instruction, and assessment to reach a diverse community of learners (academically, culturally, racially, religiously, etc.).
Collaborate with colleagues within and outside of the department and grade level on curriculum development.
Fosters a positive parent-school partnership with Lovett families.
Acts as an ambassador of Lovett’s faith identity at all times.
Assists LS Chaplain in planning and executing chapel. 
Participates in department, faculty, team, and grade-level meetings as required.
Fulfills additional duties as assigned, including responsibilities that may occur on weekends and evenings (e.g. admission open house, observations, and interviews).

 Position Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree is required, a master's degree is preferred.
Three years of teaching and classroom experience in elementary grades, religious studies is preferred.
Ability to develop a comprehensive, spiraling religious studies curriculum.
Intimate knowledge of the bible is required, knowledge of other faiths is preferred.
A passion for working with young children.
The drive, organization, and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the school community beyond the classroom.
Excellent written and oral communication skills to facilitate effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.
A strong desire to work in a collaborative learning community, employing a growth mindset and participating in ongoing professional development during the school year and summer.
Desire and ability to develop an atmosphere of trust and knowledge of students as individuals.
Commitment to developing one’s cultural self-awareness, cultural competence, and emotional intelligence.
Ethical behavior, professionalism, and regular and reliable attendance.
