About us
Annunciation Day School is a private school in central Atlanta. Based in North Druid Hills, near Emory University, we serve children from preschool through to 8th grade. We pride ourselves on small class sizes (average of 16 per class), substantial planning time for teachers (over 5 hours per week), weekly PD (through an early finish for students on a Wednesday), and the opportunity to grow and develop in your career.
We are looking for talented and passionate teacher who thinks outside of the box and wants the classroom autonomy to implement their ideas. We are a close knit community of 170 students from over 29 countries, we pride ourselves on our diversity and being a cultural melting pot. We can support new teachers in their early career or develop more experienced educators in their practice.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the Social Studies teacher (6th-8th grade), fostering a welcoming and structured classroom environment.
• Plan and deliver engaging and research-driven Social Studies lessons to both 6th-8th grade, 1 class per grade.
• Collaborate with the Middle School team to ensure curriculum cohesion across both grades.
• Utilize data-informed instructional strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Participate in weekly professional development sessions on Wednesday afternoons.
• Contribute to a supportive and collegial school culture, embracing innovation and teamwork.
• Assess student progress regularly and provide meaningful feedback.
• Uphold the school’s mission, values, and commitment to character development.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Social Studies, Geography, History or a related field.
• Master’s Degree or specialist certificate desirable.
• A passion for research-driven teaching and a student-centered approach.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning and instructional improvement.
