As our Visual & Performing Arts Team seeks to reimagine arts education, we are looking for someone who is passionate and skilled in visual/graphic arts & digital media. With a world class Virtual/Augmented Reality program, we push the boundaries of art+design by integrating various forms of digital media. At Mount Vernon, we are building something extraordinary. We are interested in solution seekers, ethical decision-makers, communicators, creative thinkers, collaborators and innovators.

- Teach visual arts/media skills to students in Grades 6-12
- Use project-based learning, real-world experiences, and collaborative opportunities to develop skills in the visual arts
- Develop interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary experiences by partnering with classroom teachers, staff, and external experts
- Introduce visual art & digital media skills, such as the Elements & Principles, video production, & tools in the Adobe suite to teach design at the middle school & high school levels
- Design excellent performance experiences for our students to showcase their talents & skills
- Coordinate the school yearbook design & execution with Jostens & the MV Brand Team
- Support the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the School
- Deliver visual/digital art curriculum to students in person & digitally
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop interdisciplinary experiences
- Attend school, division, & department faculty meetings
- Fulfill non-classroom duties as assigned
- Report to the Director of Visual & Performing Arts


- Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts/Digital Media Education required, a Master’s Degree is preferred
- 3-5 years of stage and education experience preferred
- Solid working knowledge of the concepts, activities and techniques related to visual/digital arts at the required level
- Strong foundation in classroom management

Visual Artist-We are seeking to revolutionize the traditional “art class” by incorporating technology & mixed media. While we seek to reimagine what music education can look like, we understand the importance of pedagogical understanding and value those with a background in critical pedagogies such as Orff, Kodaly and Dalcroze.

Our teachers are excited to work with each other and create meaningful interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning opportunities.

Passionate Learner-Our teachers are always looking to improve their skills by learning new educational approaches, investing in their strengths, seeking out professional development opportunities, and continually learning what emerging technologies & practices exist.

Audio/Visual Creator-Do you have skills or interests in the field of audio or video production? Are you curious to find new ways to use technology in the performing arts, even having students develop these skills at a young age?
