Athens Academy is a co-educational, non-sectarian, independent college preparatory day school of approximately 900 students in grades K3-12 that offers a traditional liberal arts curriculum and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. The Preschool:
Athens Academy’s goal of nurturing secure, successful, well-adjusted, and happy students while challenging them to grow academically begins in the Preschool (half-day program in grades K3, K4, and Pre-first). The Preschool curriculum blends skill building, motor development, and creative activities, as well as free play. Benefiting from activities-based learning, children learn the foundations of reading, writing, and mathematics. Activities are carefully tailored to individual interests, abilities, and development. Preschool students at Athens Academy also benefit from hands-on activities in discovery centers, outdoor gardens, art rooms, music rooms, a dedicated media center, and a spacious playground, all in a state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2011. The Preschool is composed of approximately 100 students and 22 teachers, assistant teachers, and instructional support staff.
The Position:
Athens Academy seeks a dynamic, creative, and versatile music teacher, beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Essential characteristics include a love of children, energy, optimism, flexibility, the ability to work with others, a good sense of humor, a knowledge of educational trends, and a firm foundation in music education. We are looking for someone who is excited to become a part of our community and enjoys and understands young musicians and learners. The ideal candidate will convey a love of learning and instill in our students a curiosity about our world and the desire to apply what they learn to other disciplines and the world around them. This is a part-time teaching position with the possibility of additional hours working with after-school programs and/or coaching.
Other Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Music Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
Experience working with preschool and/or elementary-aged children teaching music preferred.
Basic piano skills are strongly preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
