Description:

Reports To: Director of Counseling
General Definition: Provides support to students over the school day by providing individual and/or group support. Support may include sensory regulation, conflict resolution, coping skills, and social skills education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support for students regarding issues related to academic, social, or emotional functioning and development/regulation.
- Assists students throughout the day for students struggling with emotional regulation- upon arrival in the morning, during announcements, in between classes, breaks, afternoon dismissal, etc.
- Document interactions/sessions with students.
- Attend meetings: school-wide, departmental, school level, parental, etc.
- Build relationships with the student population by meeting with them as indicated on their service plan.
- Provide therapeutic breaks
- Conduct Lunch Groups and/or Social Skills Groups.
- Facilitate monthly (themed) activities
- Complete documentation: progress notes, service plans, etc
- Provide support during enrichment classes and/or after-school
- Proactively communicate with teachers to support each student.
- Collaborate with parents and/or outside providers
- Attend field trips as needed.
- Follow school and departmental protocols; i.e., safety and crisis management
- Provide assistance and support to intern(s)
- Report any significant incidents to the Director of Counseling as well as the appropriate administrative staff.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or related Counseling degree
- Fully Licensed, certified, or license eligible ( LPC, LAPC, NCC, S-5+)
- Two (2) years of experience in counseling students as individuals and in groups
- Experience with case management, treatment/service plans preferred
- Strong technology skills (ex. Microsoft Office products and Google Suite)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Pass a background check and UDS
