The Schenck School is a specialized school serving students with dyslexia in grades K-6. Students attend the school for a focused period of 2-3 years before transitioning to mainstream educational environments. The Schenck School fosters strong character development, community involvement, and a joyful learning environment, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to engage confidently with the world as proficient readers and compassionate individuals.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Development Department's mission is to build, sustain, and manage relationships to further the mission of the School. This position is responsible for providing administrative support and coordination across all areas of fundraising, as well as other development staff, as needed. The focus of the position is on providing administrative support, including data entry, report generation, gift processing, gift acknowledgement, coordinating logistics for regular mailings, and supporting the execution of fundraising efforts. This position is also responsible for the integrity of the department’s hard files and for updating constituent data as it is received.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development Coordination
Responsible for data management and entry of donors and potential donors in The Raiser’s Edge and hard files(as required), including:
-details of new donors;
-changes to existing donor details;
-gift entry, including pledges and pledge reminders, in-kind gifts, and matching gifts;
-production of financial reports and bank reconciliation reports;
-recording other information as needed;
Respond to donors' questions by phone, email, and in person
Ensure all aspects of donor solicitation and stewardship run efficiently
Produce queries and reports from Raiser’s Edge database
Coordinate and generate acknowledgement letters
Maintains database accuracy and performs regular database clean-up projects and record updates for all constituencies
Prepare and dispatch mailings sent from the Development Office
Assist and coordinate with the Admissions Office, the Business Office, Human Resources, and Outplacement on an ongoing basis
Utilize data from other fundraising partners and software (GiveSmart for the Auction & Gala, Georgia GOAL for tax-credit program, etc.) as needed for reports, preparation of lists, mailings, etc.
Remain abreast of all 501(c)(3) requirements and ensure that gifts and gift entries meet the requirements of the IRS code governing the School’s 501(c)(3) status

General Administration Support for Development
Manage individual and foundation/corporate donor information
Assist with donor and foundation research
Support volunteers, including identifying tasks suitable for volunteer work
Attend and support with stewardship functions and special events
Attend volunteer and departmental meetings as necessary

Edit of printed materials

Other Duties
Undertake any other activities as may be required from time to time on and off campus
Provide backup for Development Office staff, Front Desk, carpool, etc. as necessary
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
At least two (2) years of experience working in a fundraising or non-profit environment, an independent school, or job-related position is required.

Preferred
Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software

KEY COMPETENCIES:
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Word processing/typing proficiency
Computer literacy and aptitude for learning new software packages
Proven organizational skills, particularly in organizing office procedures
Ability to prioritize work effectively and to meet deadlines
Flexible attitude and proven ability to work both in a team and independently
Ability to absolutely keep confidential all donor and volunteer information
Ability to relate to donors, volunteers, and suppliers in a sensitive and professional way
Ability to read and interpret documents and reports

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Development staff, donors, business office staff, administration, volunteers, and parents.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Employees are expected to work primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting.
The job typically involves prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer, performing repetitive tasks such as typing and data entry, and organizing or maintaining physical and/or electronic filing systems. Occasional standing, walking, bending, or lifting of light items (up to 30 pounds) may be required.
Work is generally performed during standard business hours, though occasional overtime or extended hours may be necessary to meet deadlines or business needs. The environment is usually quiet to moderately busy, with frequent interaction with colleagues, clients, or vendors via in-person meetings, phone calls, or electronic communication.
