Position Summary: This position involves teaching fifth-grade English and reading classes. This position begins on August 1, 2025.

Specific Duties Include:
Carrying out a program of study prescribed in the English and reading curriculum
Creating a learning environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests, and learning styles of the students
Having a thorough knowledge of grammar and understanding its importance to the class and student writing
Carrying out ongoing assessment of reading and writing needs; writing and modifying the lesson plans as needed; maintaining student achievement records
Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment
Working cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to develop instructional materials that are most appropriate for meeting curricular objectives
Assists with projects and school-wide initiatives and has the ability and willingness to contribute to the Academy through co-curricular activities.
Displaying a willingness to follow school procedures and regulations
Communicating effectively with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators

Required Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy
A solid understanding of learning challenges, as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support students’ needs
Strong organizational and classroom management skills

Minimum Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with experience in reading and/or literacy instruction
Proficient in using technology support platforms/programs that will support student learning
3+ years of successful teaching at the elementary level preferred
The Elementary Language Arts Teacher, Woodward North position is an exempt, 10-month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits are substantial.
