The Friends School of Atlanta (FSA) seeks an experienced and passionate Spanish teacher to join our elementary and middle school faculty. This teacher will design and implement an engaging, student-centered Spanish curriculum for grades K–8, aligned with our Quaker values and commitment to inclusion. FSA’s world language program fosters a dynamic learning environment that celebrates diverse learners. We seek an educator who is collaborative, culturally responsive, and adaptable in supporting a wide range of learning styles and developmental stages.
This position includes active participation in school life, including lunch/recess duties, field trip supervision, community events, and student progress reporting. Attendance at some after-school and evening events is required.

Essential Responsibilities

-Teaching & Learning

Develop and deliver creative, inquiry-based Spanish lessons for K–8 students
Adapt and enrich curricular materials to support diverse learners and align with FSA’s mission
Foster a classroom culture that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth
Use varied assessment tools to monitor progress and adjust instruction
Communicate student growth with caregivers through conferences, reports, and regular updates
Maintain accurate records, grades, and reports in a timely manner

-Community Engagement

Champion equity, inclusivity, and social justice in and beyond the classroom
Participate in schoolwide events such as Back to School Night, conferences, and admissions tours
Collaborate with faculty to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives
Uphold and model Quaker values in daily practice

-Additional Responsibilities

Supervise students during lunch, recess, and transitions
Chaperone field trips and special activities
Engage in ongoing professional learning
Note: Additional duties may be assigned as needed and in alignment with the scope of the role.

Qualifications
-Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
3–5 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary or middle school settings
Familiarity with multi-sensory instruction and differentiated learning strategies

-Skills & Disposition

Fluency in Spanish and English
Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
Commitment to progressive education and inclusive pedagogy
Ability to build meaningful relationships with students ages 5–14
Alignment with Quaker values and practices
