The Children’s School seeks an experienced full-time K - 8th Music Teacher to start July 29, 2025.

The Music Teacher at The Children’s School (TCS) is responsible for student learning in general music practice grades K-8, classroom instruction and management, and curriculum creation/implementation and for promoting a classroom culture committed to student engagement, in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the School. This position oversees musical performances.

Day to day, the Music Teacher will:
-Motivate, nurture, and challenge students,
-Play a meaningful role in each student’s daily school life,
-Establish and maintain a creative, self-directed, collaborative, and culturally inclusive learning environment,
-Communicate, collaborate, plan, and work effectively in teaching partnerships,
-Gather formative and formal feedback about student progress to guide student learning.

Required on-campus office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and are subject to change. As an exempt position, job responsibilities include lesson/class planning, family communication regarding student progress, meetings, evaluation of student work, team planning, professional development, etc. which typically extends beyond office hours.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree
-Applicable experience working with children through a child development lens
-Understands early childhood development and early learners
-Understands the identity development and learning process of early adolescents
-Expertise in teaching Music
-Skilled at establishing meaningful relationships with students as a critical foundation for student engagement and academic achievement
-Possess the following characteristics:

Preferred Qualifications
-Master’s degree in Education, Teaching and/or Music, and at least three (3) years of experience teaching children in a classroom setting, grades K-8,in Music.
-Familiarity and experience with various musical instructional methods
-Experience with Piano and/or string instrumental accompanist
-Passion for and experience in the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion
