Hours: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
Duratio: Jan 4th - April 2
Role: Lead Teacher covering maternity leave (Jan 1st - April 2nd), return to part-time Associate teacher roll after April 2nd
Swift School is an independent K-8 school serving approximately 160 students. Swift's mission is to prepare students with dyslexia and related language-based learning differences to be successful in life. We recognize that each child is unique, and our teaching approach, time frame, and expected outcomes reflect the student's individuality. Our faculty is passionate about teaching children with learning differences. Given that students have multiple needs, our teachers collaborate with highly trained learning support staff to ensure the best overall academic plan for each student.
This is a part-time position that will transition to full-time to cover a maternity leave, and then transition back to part-time.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Experience working with students with dyslexia, language-based learning differences, or other learning disabilities.
Familiarity with multisensory instructional approaches to mathematics, such as Orton-Gillingham math and structured literacy-aligned math methods.
Knowledge of math intervention strategies and differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with colleagues, families, and support staff.
Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for supporting students with learning differences.
Associate Role, through January 1st
Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering multisensory math lessons for 5th grade students.
Support small group instruction using a multisensory math approach
Implement differentiated instruction strategies to meet each student's diverse learning needs.
Collaborate with the lead teacher and support staff to ensure consistency in instruction and student support.
Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives as scheduled.
Lead Teacher Role, beginning January 1st
Assume full lead teacher responsibilities supporting students in grade 5, covering maternity leave through April 2nd.
Plan, prepare, and deliver daily multisensory math lessons aligned with Swift School's curriculum and instructional philosophy.
Lead small group and whole-class instruction using an evidence-based multisensory math approach
Design and implement differentiated lesson plans to address the varied learning profiles
Conduct ongoing informal and formal assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, goals, and areas of support.
Collaborate with the math specialist and 5th grade team
Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and instructional materials.
