Description:
Athens Academy seeks a full-time, dynamic, creative, and versatile mathematics teacher beginning in August 2027. Essential characteristics include love of emerging adults, energy, optimism, flexibility, the ability to work with others, a good sense of humor, and a firm foundation in mathematics education. We are looking for someone who is excited to become a part of our community and who enjoys and understands the adolescent learner. Teachers at Athens Academy convey a love of learning and instill in our students a curiosity about our world and the desire to apply what they learn to other disciplines and the world around them. While not required, coaching and/or club sponsorship experience is always valuable in an independent school community. The ideal candidate would be able to teach at a variety of points in the Upper School math curriculum, from Algebra I through AP Calculus AB or BC and potentially beyond. Knowledge of topics such as statistics or computer science is a plus. Athens Academy’s faculty are also engaged with students beyond the classroom, including coaching and other extracurricular activities.
Other Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in mathematics or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
At least three years of teaching experience with Upper School students
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
