Athens Academy is a co-educational, non-sectarian, independent college preparatory day school of approximately 900 students in grades K3-12 that offers a traditional liberal arts curriculum and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Upper School:
Athens Academy’s Upper School (grades 9-12) is committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares students to lead successful and productive lives not only in their future academic pursuits in colleges and universities across the nation but also in their adult lives. The curricular structure challenges each student individually, while our diverse extra-curricular offerings provide students the opportunity to be involved in activities in which they are interested. Talented and tireless teachers enable us to produce young men and women capable of handling the 21st-century demands and challenges they will inevitably face.
The Position:
Athens Academy seeks a full-time, dynamic, creative, and versatile mathematics teacher beginning in August 2025. Essential characteristics include love of emerging adults, energy, optimism, flexibility, the ability to work with others, a good sense of humor, and a firm foundation in mathematics education. We are looking for someone who is excited to become a part of our community and who enjoys and understands the adolescent learner. Teachers at Athens Academy convey a love of learning and instill in our students a curiosity about our world and the desire to apply what they learn to other disciplines and the world around them. While not required, coaching and/or club sponsorship experience is always valuable in an independent school community. The ideal candidate would be able to teach at a variety of points in the Upper School math curriculum, from Algebra I through AP Calculus AB or BC and potentially beyond. Knowledge of topics such as statistics or computer science is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in mathematics or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
At least three years of teaching experience with Upper School students
