The Role
Mount Vernon School seeks an innovative and collaborative Upper School Science teacher with experience teaching in student-centered environments. Mount Vernon teaches foundational science courses through unique 9-week modules such as Biotechnology, Medicinal Chemistry, and Rocketry. Ideal candidates will have a background in several sciences and use a project-based/competency-based approach to instruction and assessment. Availability to sponsor athletic, artistic, or academic teams/clubs is preferred.

Responsibilities
Provide meaningful instruction in Grades 9-12 Science using a variety of research-based and innovative teaching methods
Create well-planned nine-week units that connect students to the real-world learning opportunities
Create differentiated lessons to match the needs of each student in the classroom
Timely maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of each student's performance and progress & communication with students/families pertaining to progress
Care and nurture for the social and emotional needs of each student
Maintenance of an organized, inviting, and student-centered learning environment
Participation in duties (e.g. lunch, enrichment and carpool) and others as assigned
Possess strong character with an absolute drive for excellence, a team-oriented spirit, and a commitment to meeting the learning and social-emotional needs of students
